International teacher training course in Berlin / Germany

23.09-27.09.2019

Diversity, flight and Migration – inclusive teaching practices in European classrooms. A practical approach with exercises and teaching units

About the course:

Migration and refugees have become relevant topics in a lot of European countries and this means also new situations for schools and teachers. Students with migratory backgrounds are in the classroom bring different perspectives and offer new aspects of diversity. Acknowledging the heterogeneous composition of classes, teachers are more and more confronted with new challenges and approaches of teaching.

The course will approach the topics from two sides. New methods on the topics of migration and diversity learning are presented in a practical way, we will try out several methods. We will introduce Berlin as a city of immigration. The course will provide visits to schools and projects, where we will meet teachers and people involved in migration projects there.

Nowadays students with migratory background especially those coming from the so called "muslim countries” are confronted with prejudices. Besides dealing with these subjects the course will generally provide material and approaches to work with diversity in classrooms.

About our institution:

The teacher training department of the Humanistic Association of Germany (HVD), section Berlin is engaged in various European networks and projects on the topic of migration. We offer a subject called "Humanistische Lebenskunde” in Berlin public schools, a subject which deals with ethic and moral learning from a non-religious perspective. The human rights convention from the UN is one of our guidelines. Anti-discrimination and inclusion are important topics in our teaching and teacher trainings. We will offer the course on a European level, because the topics are relevant in a lot of European countries and the exchange about experiences and strategies can be very fruitful.

Erasmus+ Projekt PEARLS

Unser aktuelles Erasmus+ Projekt nennt sich PEARLS: Preventing Early School Leaving Through Inclusive Strategies.

Comenius Projekt MIRACLE

Migrants and Refugees - A Challenge for Learning in European Schools

Schulabbrecherquoten, mangelnde Integration, hohe Gewaltbereitschaft, fundamentalistische religiöse Ansichten etc.

Was passiert im Projekt?

Comenius Projekt MILES

Der Lebenskundebereich ist von 2006-2008 Partner im Comenius Projekt MILES. Im Rahmen von MILES (Migration and Intercultural Learning in European Schools) entwickeln Partner aus verschiedenen europäischen Länden Methoden und Fortbildungen rund um das Thema Migration

Projektpartner:

  • Universität Oldenburg (Leitung und Koordination)
  • HVD, Bereich Lebenskunde
  • Universität Ankara, Türkei Bereich LehrerInnenausbildung
  • Ulster American Folk Park Omagh, Nord-Irland (Migrationsmuseum, Museumspädagogische Abteilung)
  • Oberschule Mandal und Universität Kristiansand (Lehrerausbildung), Norwegen
  • FCASEC Fumureni, Rumänien (Fortbildungsinstitution für LehrerInnen)

Projektziele:

Mehrsprachiges Lied

Methoden ab ein bis zwei Unterrichtsstunden

Gast-Geschenke

Wer bin ich?

Wichtigkeitsskala

Wer ist normal?

Die Kinderrechte gelten für alle

Ausführlicheres Projekt

Wo komme ich her- Wo gehe ich hin?
